TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Last season, the FAMU DRS Baby Lady Rattlers basketball team finished the season 30-2, capped off their their second of back to back State Championships. This year, the girls have the tall task of filling in the gap left by Jasmine Jones, who is having an impressive freshman season at Louisville.

Head coach Ericka Cromartie said while Jones is impossible to replace, the current Baby Lady Rattlers have stepped up and filled in. FAMU DRS is 7-5, but Cromartie notes that that mark doesn't reflect the talent on this team. She said they have the toughest schedule DRS has ever had, and she added this team hasn't even peaked yet.

"We've taken our lumps. We've played Nationally ranked Ribault, we've played teams that aren't even in the Association, just to get the experience," she said. "Our record may not reflect how good or how talented we are, but that's okay. I'd rather not go undefeated, and not be battle tested. I'd rather be battle tested now and then as the season goes on, we'll be prepared for what's to come."

The Baby Lady Rattlers return to action Friday when they host District foe North Florida Christian.
