TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Drew Parrish struck out 11 batters over seven innings, allowing one earned run, and No. 13 Florida State (34-16) beat Mount St. Mary’s (20-26) 12-2 Friday evening in front of 3,747 fans at Dick Howser Stadium. Nine of FSU’s 11 hits went for extra bases, highlighted by eight doubles and Jackson Lueck’s 12th home run of the season.

Parrish (4-0) struck out seven batters in the first three innings and 11 total. Parrish allowed five hits and one earned run over seven innings. It was Parrish’s third career game, and second this season, with more than 10 strikeouts.
Lueck and Rhett Aplin each had two extra base hits, while those two, Mike Salvatore and Kyle Cavanaugh had multiple RBI.
Lueck gave FSU an early 1-0 lead with his 12th home run of the season in the first inning. After Myles Nicholson doubled and tied the game on a double steal, Lueck and Aplin hit back-to-back doubles off Michael Collins (3-7) for another FSU lead. Drew Mendoza walked to put runners on first and second, but Steven Wells grounded into a double play to end the inning.
The Mountaineers answered in the top of the fourth on a deep triple off the glove of J.C. Flowers in center field by Randall Minogue. Minogue scored on an errant throw from Flowers that tied the game at 2-2. Flowers was making his first appearance since March 25 at North Carolina, when he broke his jaw sliding into second base.
After Aplin’s second RBI double scored Rafael Bournigal in the fifth inning, and a walk to Cal Raleigh, Jesse Archambault entered and forced another double play to end the frame with FSU up 3-2.
The Seminoles broke the game open in the sixth inning, scoring four runs on three hits. Salvatore hit a two-run double, Lueck hit a sacrifice fly and Raleigh had an RBI double, his team-high 41st RBI of the season.
In the seventh, Lueck walked with the bases loaded before Kyle Cavanaugh’s two-run single gave FSU a 10-2 lead through seven innings.
Conor Grady and Gage Hutchinson each pitched a scoreless inning out of the FSU bullpen.
Rhett Aplin’s second RBI double of the game scored Jackson Lueck and broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning.
- Centerfielder J.C. Flowers started his first game since a jaw injury sustained March 25 at North Carolina. The sophomore had a pair of walks and scored a run in his return.
- FSU improved to 2-0 on its season-ending eight-game home stand.
- Jackson Lueck started at DH for the first time this season and fourth time in his career (three as a freshman in 2016). Lueck hit a first-inning home run, his team-high 12th of the season and 25th of his career. It was Lueck’s first career game with a home run and a double.
- Rhett Aplin’s RBI double in the third inning was his 29th straight game reaching base, the longest single-season streak for a Seminole since DJ Stewart reached in 38 straight in 2014. Aplin leads FSU with 17 doubles on the season and had his fifth career game with two doubles.
- Drew Parrish struck out 11 batters Friday, his third career game striking out at 10. He set a career-high two weeks ago with 13 in a 2-0 win against Miami.
- Rafael Bournigal and Mike Salvatore hit their seventh doubles of the season.
- FSU’s first five hits went for extra bases (four doubles and a home run).
- Cal Raleigh walked twice Friday, pushing his team lead to 45. His most in a season prior to 2018 was 42 in 63 games in 2016.
- FSU’s eight doubles were a season high and its most since hitting 15 against Ohio State in a 37-6 win in the 2009 Super Regionals. It was the Seminoles’ 11th game scoring at least 10 runs.
- FSU scored four runs in the sixth inning, the 21st “big inning” (at least four runs) in 2018.
- Kyle Cavanaugh’s two-run single was his first multi-RBI game as a Seminole.
Florida State hosts Mount St. Mary’s for a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Sunday’s finale scheduled for 12:00 p.m.

The first game of Saturday’s doubleheader is FSU’s annual Military Appreciation Game. Active duty military and veterans get free admission with military ID and the first 1,000 fans will receive a military day t-shirt.
Saturday’s second game is a fan appreciation game with free attendance for all fans.
