Everett Golson To Start For Florida State Saturday

Posted

TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - After weeks of not giving away too many details on the quarterback race, Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher hinted Monday morning during his weekly press conference that the public would know that afternoon who would start at quarterback Saturday against Texas State.

Possibly turned to definitely, as Fisher announced after practice that senior transfer Everett Golson will start week one. Fisher didn't go in to too much detail when saying what set Golson apart from Sean Maguire, just that both guys had tremendous camps, and that he was very comfortable with both quarterbacks.

He added he will need both to play well throughout the year, but Golson is the right choice right now.

"I don't want to go into detail about that with things he did, but the things he did is what is best for our team now at this particular time," said Fisher Monday afternoon. "It was a tougher decision because of how well they were playing, leading and doing those kinds of things. I am very pleased with his progress and where he is at right now."

Fisher added that Golson adds another element in the sense that he can run the football, and his deep and short ball are looking good. The Seminoles host Texas State Saturday at 8:00 in their season opener.
