TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida A&M (7-8, 4-2 MEAC) had four errors on the day and allowed 15 hits as they fell 11-5 to Mercer (10-9) at Moore-Kittles Field on Wednesday afternoon. Marlon Gibbs had his second straight four-RBI performance while going 3-for-5 and AJ Elkins also had three hits while going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Gibbs matched a career high with four RBI, which he had set in last night’s game against the Bears.
FAMU starting pitcher Ryan Kopenski (0-1) took the loss after allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits with one strikeout and two walks in 1.1 innings of work.
The Bears blew open the game to 6-0 with five runs on just one hit in the second inning. Only one run in the inning was earned due to an error by FAMU third baseman Ryan Kennedy. Joe had a three run double in the inning.
Florida A&M hits the road this weekend for a three-game series at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL starting on Friday evening. Friday and Saturday’s games are scheduled for a 6:30 PM start and Sunday is at 1:00 PM.
