VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Eleven Valdosta State student-athletes made Gulf South Conference All-Academic teams, announced by the conference Friday. The teams are determined by a vote of the league Sports Information Directors and Faculty Athletic Representatives.
VSU women's soccer earned four of the 14 positions on the All-Academic soccer squad. Marketing major Blakely McClellan is a unanimous selection, after recording a 3.76 grade point average. She is joined on the team by Abbi Edwards, with a 3.95 GPA in Middle Grades Education, Olivia Mills, with a 3.37 GPA in Exercise Physiology, and Caroline Moore, with a 3.58 GPA as a Communication Disorders major.
Blazer football and men's cross country each tallied three honorees. For football, Colin Glasco (3.61 GPA in Computer Science), Michael Miller (3.36 GPA in Exercise Physiology), and Kenny Murphy (3.45 GPA in Mass Media) made the team. The VSU men's cross county honorees are Jesse Prince, Ryan Winkel, and Nate Wondimu.
Also honored as a GSC All-Academic team member is women's cross country's Juliana Boehm.
