QUINCY, Fla. (WTXL) - The East Gadsden boys basketball team was a win away from advancing to the State Final Four this year, as they fell to Bolles in the Class 4A Regional Finals. There's still a lot to celebrate though, as the Jags won a District title, and on Friday, celebrating continued as senior Justin Walker signed a college scholarship.
Walker inked with NAIA University of St. Francis, and said choosing St. Francis was an easy decision, his godbrother Landus Anderson plays for the Saints, and everyone on campus made him feel at home.
"I just really felt comfortable like I was going to be loved there and able to prosper on and off the court," he said. "I've been wanting to play basketball at the college level all my life, and just knowing my hard work paid off and just letting kids at home know it's possible. Just stick to your academics and work hard everyday. It's a blessing."
Walker said he plans on studying psychology.
