Early Lead Against Samford Slips Away for Rattlers

The FAMU football team falls to 0-2 after losing on the road to Samford 58-21. The Rattlers had the lead after solid plays from their defense and special teams.

Akil Blount picked off a pass and returned it 65 yards for a touchdown to give the Rattlers a 7-3 lead. Later in the first quarter, Gerald Hearns scored from one yard out.

That was the Rattlers last lead of the game. Samford outscored FAMU 48-7 the rest of the way to win. Samford quarterback Michael Eubank threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns.  FAMU is on the road this Thursday against South Carolina State.
