MARIANNA, Fla. (February 15, 2015) – NJCAA No. 9/FCSAA No. 3 Tallahassee Community College split two games on Sunday at the Florida Public Utilities (FPU) Classic at Chipola College.
The Eagles lost a tough 2-1 decision to Miami Dade College in Sunday’s first game. However, the Eagles bounced back with a 9-1 victory over Hillsborough Community College. Now TCC is 9-2 and ready to begin a six-game homestand.
After dropping their first game of the day, the Eagles came back in a big way, racking up 12 hits against the Hawks.
Taesha DuBoise went 4-for-4, Kayla Boucher was 2-for-4 with five RBIs and Gabrielle Decker was 2-for-4 with a solo homer.
Alexandra Cook took advantage of all the offense in the circle. She went the distance in the circle, allowing only four hits while striking out ten.
In the 2-1 loss to Miami Dade, Brooke Marendino went 3-for-4 and Brianna Tourtillott was 2-for-3 with a double.
Tallahassee trailed 2-0 heading to the seventh before it made things interesting.
Shelby Manns drew a leadoff walk and advanced to third on an error by the Sharks’ catcher. She scored on a passed ball to cut the Eagles’ deficit in half.
Decker took the hard-luck loss for Tallahassee. She allowed only five hits and two earned runs over six innings.
The Eagles’ homestand begins Thursday with a doubleheader against Santa Fe College at 4 and 6 p.m. and continues against Chattanooga (Tenn.) State Community College on Saturday and Andrew (Ga.) College on Monday, February 23.
