Tallahassee, FL (WTXL)-- The 2015 High School Cross Country season comes to a close. Several athletes from the Big Bend hit the trails at Apalacheee Park with one goal--to win a state title.
Lots of high hopes for a lot of local athletes and schools. In Class 3A, Emma Tucker placed third at regionals for Chiles High School. Tucker hung near the top of the pack all day and on the final stretch of her race she pushes to finish in third place.
Alexandra Wallace is the second local finisher from Chiles. The Chiles girls win the 3A State Championship. The Chiles boys almost just as good. They finish second.
"What it says is we have a program," Chiles Cross Country Coach Scott Gowan said. "We don't have team, we have a program. Every year, if you put on that uniform, you're expected to contend for Championships. They put in the work and we reap the benefits" Gowan added.
