Moultrie, GA (WTXL)--Colquitt's road to a third straight state title began on Friday afternoon. Coach Rush Propst believes starting the practice on Friday followed by a Saturday morning practice helps him determine how passionate the team is about winning.
"I never get too excited about day one. The anticipation is always important and its always ragged," Propst said. "I never put a lot of emphasis on day one," Propst added.
Colquitt returns four starters on offense and four on defense. However, quarterback Chase Parrish has graduated. Propst reiterated he has full confidence in their new quarterback Jay Saunders.
" Jay is a guy that has sat behind a great quarterback in Chase Parrish," Propst said. "Jay isn't Chase, but there some things that Jay does better than Chase and there are some things that Chase did better than Jay."
Colquitt is pushing to go 45-0. Propst believes it will be challenging to win every game, but that is their mission.
"It will be very challenging for this team," Propst said. "A lot of people think this is a down year for us. This group of seniors wants to show people that we are better than what we are on paper."
