MOULTRIE, Ga. (WTXL) - And then, there were 32. That's how many high school football teams remain in the state of Georgia. There are four left per classification, and all are looking to punch their ticket to Atlanta to play for a State title.
In AAAAAAA, Colquitt County is one of those lucky final four. The Packers travel to Brookwood Friday night and to be playing this late in the season? Head coach Rush Propst said is pretty special.
This is the Pack's 15th week of game prep if you count their preseason match-up. That's a lot of football, and coach says you have to have an edge to make it this far.
"I ain't going to lie to you, it's a mindset that's unlike anything else that you do," said Propst. "It's sort of like an Ironman test or a triathlon. In 29 years of me being a head football coach, this is by far the youngest football team that I've taken this deep into a playoff run. This will be the third time that we've traveled four straight weeks to where we get home at 3:30, and they leave the fieldhouse somewhere between 4 and 4:30."
A win Friday gets them to Atlanta for the State Championship game. Kickoff is slated for 7:30.
