MOULTRIE, Ga. (WTXL) - When it comes to rankings, the Colquitt County Packers know a thing or two about being on top. They're ranked third in the country in USA Today's Super 25. They've also won 28 straight games, and with just two more wins to secure their second straight State Championship, they have no plans of slowing down.
Up next for the Pack? Another undefeated team, Mill Creek High School, who like the Packers sit at 13-0 on the year. In fact, all four teams left in AAAAAA are all undefeated.
Head Coach Rush Propst won't lie, the expectation is to be playing in December at Colquitt County, and not just to be playing, but to be winning.
He knows it won't be easy, and said to get a win on Friday, the Packers will have to play at their absolute best. He added the Packers will have to have the "faster car" so to speak, because at this time of year, Propst said football is kind of like NASCAR.
"I grew up around Talladega racetrack, and I learned a lot about little bitty things mean a whole heck of a lot," he said after practice on Monday. "When cars are running all around 200, it's who's running at 200 and that 100th of a second, that may get you that extra little bit that wins by four feet at those high speeds. I sort of compare it to this. I think it's the little bitty things that you do are just magnified this time of year."
Colquitt County's match-up with Mill Creek kicks off Friday night at 7:30.
