COLQUITT COUNTY, Ga. — Rush Propst, the Colquitt County Head Football Coach, has been fired.

WALB reports that following a more than two hour closed session, the Colquitt County Board of Education voted to fire Propst.

Superintendent Doug Howell told WALB at the Thursday meeting that the school board’s investigation was finished.

WTXL learned Thursday night that the Georgia Professional Standards Commission has now opened in an investigation into Propst, but couldn't say which part of the code of conduct Propst may have violated. All of that information, along with any public records, will not be available until the investigation is complete.

Propst was suspended with pay in February for an internal investigation into personnel issues.

Propst spent 11 years as the head football coach at Colquitt, going 119-35 in his tenure, and winning four regional championships and two state titles.

This is a developing story.
