TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) — The Tallahassee Community College women's basketball program hosted a jamboree for dozens of teams, all day Saturday. Just like the showcase from the men's jamboree last weekend, the women's had teams from all around the region showing off their athleticism and fundamentals to DI coaches.

TCC Head Women's Basketball Coach, Matt Huddleston, said Saturday's jamboree is extremely important for players to get offers from DI colleges. "The evaluation process at the Division One level when looking at a female athlete, in particular, we look at a lot of developmental situations," explained Coach Huddleston. "So right now, we have some players who are qualified to play Division One basketball but they came here as freshmen. It gives them the opportunity to show Division One coaches that they can compete at a high level, especially in the Panhandle Conference."

Huddleston added that the last four national championships were won by Panhandle teams. He said the DI equivalent would be like playing in the women's conference with South Carolina, Mississippi State, Connecticut, and Notre Dame.
