Notre Dame, Ind. – No. 19 Florida State (17-6, 5-4) threw a one-hitter at Notre Dame (9-12, 5-4) Sunday, topping the Fighting Irish 3-1 in 10 innings at Frank Eck Stadium. Shane Drohan, Conor Grady (4-1) and J.C. Flowers combined to give up just one sixth-inning double and struck out 11 batters.

Drohan pitched a career-high 5.1 innings with six strikeouts. Eric Gilgenbach’s double was the last batter Drohan faced and Grady entered after 100 pitches. A sacrifice fly tied the game, but Grady did not allow a runner to reach base in his outing. Grady finished with 3.2 innings pitched, a career high, and tied a career high with five strikeouts.
After FSU scored a pair of runs in the top of the 10th inning, Flowers walked the first two batters but forced a sacrifice bunt and two straight groundouts to end the game and notch his fifth save of the season.
Elijah Cabell knocked a triple to left-centerfield in the sixth inning and gave FSU a 1-0 lead when he scored on a wild pitch.
FSU improved to 2-0 in extra innings in 2019. With two outs, Reese Albert singled off Joe Boyle (1-1) before Drew Mendoza and Cabell reached on throwing errors by shortstop Jared Miller to give FSU a 3-1 lead.
OF NOTE
- Florida State has won the season series against Notre Dame four consecutive seasons. The teams split a doubleheader on Saturday.
- Sunday’s game began at 11:00 a.m. with expected rain coming later in the afternoon.
- Shane Drohan set a career high with 5.1 innings pitched. It is his second consecutive outing reaching five innings pitched.
- Conor Grady set a career high with 3.2 innings pitched out of the bullpen. He tied a career high with five strikeouts.
- C. Flowers stole his fourth base of the year in the second inning. Robby Martin stole his first career base in the sixth inning.
- Elijah Cabell hit his first career triple in the sixth inning and scored FSU’s first run on a wild pitch. As a team, FSU has five triples, one shy of the team’s mark from 2018.
- Flowers earned his fifth save of the season.
- Sunday was the second time this season the Seminoles’ allowed one or fewer hits; FSU combined for a no-hitter on Opening Day against Maine.

Florida State will play its second game against Florida Tuesday at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. Neither team has named a starting pitcher at this time.
