TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — For the fourth consecutive season, and the fifth time in the last six years, the reigning NCAA National Champion Seminoles are a top-eight national seed and No. 4 Florida State (51-8) will begin the 2019 NCAA Softball Championship at home on Friday, May 17 against Bethune-Cookman (26-29) at 2:30 p.m.
No. 20 South Carolina (36-17) and USF (40-17) are the other two teams in the Tallahassee Regional and will play on Friday at 12:00 p.m. All games of the weekend will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks, with Friday’s game against the Wildcats airing on ESPNU.
The Seminoles have faced a total of 13 teams in the 2019 NCAA Tournament field, posting a combined record of 18-7, including wins over No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 5 Florida and No. 6 Arizona (twice).
“We are very excited about the national seed, and that is something we work for every year,” said FSU head coach Lonni Alameda. “Another tough regional, but it is going to be that way. USF’s had a great season, South Carolina and Bethune-Cookman are all great teams that we know really well, and we are excited for the weekend.”
The double elimination regional will conclude on May 19 and the winner of the 2019 NCAA Tallahassee Regional will match up with the winner of the Stillwater Regional in the NCAA Super Regional round on May 23-26. If Florida State wins its regional, it will host the Super Regionals.
It marks the 20th consecutive season that the Noles have reached the regional round and they are one of nine schools to make the NCAA tournament every year since 2000.
Tickets for the entire Tallahassee Regional will go on sale Monday, May 13. All-session passes for the entire weekend will be $25 for adults and $15 for youth and seniors in the reserved seats of the grandstands, while an All-session pass for the Berm areas/standing-room only will be $15 for all ages.
Single-day tickets will go on sale Friday morning, May 17 and will be $10 for adults and $5 for youth and seniors. Tickets can be ordered either on Seminoles.com, by calling 1-888-FSU-NOLE, or at the ticket office at JoAnne Graf Field on each game day. The main FSU ticket office is located at Gate B on the west side of Doak Campbell Stadium and the office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. ET.
