TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) — Florida State women's basketball came out victorious Sunday afternoon with a 78-64 win over North Carolina. A win that will go down in the record books for head coach Sue Semrau.
Semrau, who has been with Florida State for 23 years, reached the 200 ACC win mark Sunday.
She is the fourth women's basketball coach in the Atlantic Coast Conference to reach the mark. Semrau joins the likes of Debbie Ryan (Virginia), Sylvia Hatchell (North Carolina), and Kay Yow (NC State).
On the podium after Sunday's victory over the Tar Heels, Semrau said she wasn't thinking about the 200 mark, but more about her players. "Honestly, it's about these players, it's about them getting the wins," explained Semrau. "Maybe when I'm kicking back and retired, maybe I'll call up Sylvia, Debbie Ryan, and Kay is one of my mentors. To reach that milestone with them is really a nice thing for the future. But for now, it's all about NC State coming up next."
The Seminoles face NC State this upcoming Thursday in Raleigh, N.C.
