TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Florida State volleyball team should have two matches under their belt, but last week's home opener against Clemson was postponed and now the Noles are ready to open Wednesday night on the road.
Admittedly, it's been a weird offseason. They've had to adjust their training regime and there have been no non-conference games to tune up with before conference matches start.
"As coaches, we've been up and down," said head coach Chris Poole. "It's been huge up and down emotions trying to prepare for these matches and trying to keep the team healthy and moving in the right direction. It's extremely unusual for us to be in this situation. There is no book to read. There is no manual to look at. We're just trying to figure it out."
Even with the adversity, Poole says they're excited to play. It's been a long ride to get to this point.
"One of the things that they missed, which is normal for them, is a three-month opportunity to crank up physically," Poole said. "They're doing the strength training and preparation for their bodies to be resilient going into a season and lasting into the season. We missed that this year during the summer, which is normal routine."
Florida State faces Georgia Tech on Wednesday and then Thursday at 6 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
