TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Florida State football team makes their debut this Saturday at home when they host Georgia Tech.

It'll be the first game inside Doak Campbell for head coach Mike Norvell. First games bring first game jitters.

Norvell said walking into the stadium will be emotional. He said he's not hiding the fact that he will have nerves. Florida State is an iconic program and there's a standard they're expected to meet.

The Noles had picture day recently and Norvell gushed about seeing Renegade and Osceola, admitting it was "pretty cool."

"To be able to run out of that tunnel and understand the standard that has been set through the course of our program's history and the expectations, that's something we embrace," Norvell said. "I talk about respect a lot within our program as one of the core values of what we want to do. We have an obligation to respect all that has come before us. The standard of play, the mentality, in every aspect of what we're doing. When we run out of that tunnel, we're saying yes to that standard."

For Norvell, game day is all about preparation and that's what he'll be focused on come Saturday.

"I like to run through scenarios," said Norvell. "I've kind of got a book made up of a bunch of different scenarios that have happened within college football this year, last year, five years in the past. I like to have the opportunity to relive those scenarios of what we do in situations. Reviewing call sheets, thoughts, things we talked about. I have to prepare just like the players have to prepare."

That preparation comes to a head this Saturday. Kick-off against the Yellow Jackets is set for 3:30 p.m. and you can watch it right here on ABC 27.
