TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) — Florida State started out decent against the #8 ranked Florida Gators Saturday evening. But, that decent start didn't last as the gators would romp the Seminoles 40-17.

When the 2nd quarter arrived, the Noles had no answer to the 27 gator points scored. Eventually walks ons were sent in for Florida State. Interim Head Coach Odell Haggins said, "We are a family. I wanted them to experience this too."

However, players shouldn't come back to Tallahassee with their heads down. The Noles are bowl eligible after missing the post season last year. This comes after a whirlwind of events and emotions following Willie Taggart's firing a few weeks ago. Haggins said after the loss against Florida, "Look what these kids have gone through this year. Look what they did against Boston College. Lot of positive things. I love these kids, they could have laid down. They fought back the Seminole way."

While coach, players and fans alike are excited about a bowl game, Haggins also explained the team will be focused on finishing strong in the classroom.

"We've had injuries but we've fought through adversity all year. We will keep loving them and keep pushing them. That Florida State Pride is what it's all about," said Haggins.

A bowl game and a new head coach have not yet been determined for the program.
