Box Score

Florida State starting pitch Drew Parrish faced the minimum through four innings, with the Hurricanes’ lone baserunner in that span erased attempting to steal. In the fifth, Parrish gave up back-to-back singles to start the inning and an intentional walk before Toral’s ACC-leading 13th home run of the season off the batters eye in center field for a 4-0 lead.

Parrish walked two more batters to end his day, giving way to Austin Pollock. Pollock walked his only batter faced before Chase Haney struck out Freddy Zamora and Elijah Cabell made a diving catch off the bat of Adrian Del Castillo to limit the damage and end the inning.

FSU recorded three hits against Miami starter Evan McKendry over 7.0 innings and struck out nine times. Drew Mendoza walked twice and singled in the sixth inning, but FSU’s only hit with a runner on base came from former Hurricane Nico Baldor in the fourth inning.

In the seventh inning, Carter Smith earned his first action at catcher for Florida State. Tyler Ahearn walked a pair of batters in the frame before Zamora lined a two-out, two-run single to extend the lead to 6-0. Before Ahearn exited due to injury, Raymond Gil singled in Zamora for a 7-0 lead.

A two-run double and throwing error extended the Hurricane lead to 10-0 through seven innings. Miami added its final run in the eighth.

Mike Salvatore had two of Florida State’s four hits.
