FSU women's hoops sees Wake Forest for Noles' first game of ACC tourney

TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) — Florida State will play their first ACC tournament game for 2020 on Friday. The Seminoles had byes for the first and second rounds.

FSU is ranked 4th in the tournament and will face Wake Forest, who are 13th. The Demon Deacons defeated #5 Virginia Tech on Thursday to advance.

Florida State senior Kiah Gillespie said her team knows that any team can beat any other team in this tournament. "Stranger things have happened," said Gillespie. "It doesn't matter what we've done, everything has started over. Every team has a new sense of hunger because they know it's one and done at this point. Every team is going to give us their best shot like they have all year."

The tournament is being held in Greensboro, North Carolina and according to FSU head coach Sue Semrau, there is a ton of excitement surrounding the tournament. "Players love it. Players love just playing games and getting in and having that opportunity," said Semrau. "The ACC tournament is one of the best in the country and so I think, you know, you get the fans out there, you get the great teams, it's just a great event."

The Seminoles and Demon Deacons tip-off Friday morning at 11:00.
