TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) — Out of 64 teams selected, Florida State received one of four #1 seeds for the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament. The Seminoles' first opponent will be South Alabama (16-3-2). The two teams have not faced each other this season.
With the #1 seed for the second straight year comes home field advantage for Florida State. Malia Berkely, a junior defender/midfielder said playing at home is a huge advantage for multiple reasons. "The fans here, they support us so much and having that is going to be a great feeling," said Berkely. "It also takes the stress off of traveling, missing school, and all of that. So being able to just be here and be completely focused on the game is going to be really good for us."
Head Coach Mark Krikorian added, "When we saw our name pop up there with South Alabama every bit of focus is going to be on South Alabama. We're not talking about anybody else, we're not doing anything about anybody else."
South Alabama at Florida State is set for Saturday, November 16th at 6:00 p.m at the Seminole soccer complex.
