TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — With the start of August we're officially less than a month out from that August 31 season opener for the Florida State football team.

The Seminoles kick off fall camp Friday. Thursday, head coach Willie Taggart opening fall camp by talking to the media. The Seminoles enter camp unranked in the preseason Coaches Poll for the first time since 2008.

That's not too much of a surprise after last year's 5-7 season.

"Our guys had a really good off-season. In the classroom, in the weightroom. I'm really excited about the work they put in," said Taggart. "Now, ready to get out and work on some football. and see how much the weightlifting and running and conditioning and those guys working in the offseason by themselves. Seeing how much it pays off as we start camp."

Friday's practice starts at 10:20 a.m. and it is open to the public.

While the Seminoles start practice Friday, the Florida A&M Rattlers kicked off fall camp Thursday.
