TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - The Florida A&M football team was 6-2 last season heading into their final three games with their eyes on the celebration bowl. It wasn't meant to be, as the Rattlers dropped those final three games, missing out on that trip to Atlanta.

Head Coach Willie Simmons notes falling short was motivation enough this spring, but regardless of how they finished or didn't, the goal every year is to make the postseason. Through the first two weeks of spring practice, coach said he likes this team's energy, and with everyone now in year two under Simmon's leadership, everyone is a little more comfortable on the field.

"Being around them for a year, they have a better understanding of who we are, what our expectations are," he said after practice Thursday. "We understand what they need. I think the longer you run a program, the longer you get to know people, I think it gives us a better opporunity as coaches to give them the discipline and the instruction for them to be their very best self."

FAMU's spring game set for March 30th at 2:00.
