Octavien Moyer belted a solo home run in the first inning, but it wasn't enough as the Florida A&M University baseball team concluded its three-game series with Eastern Illinois with a 5-3 loss on Sunday at Moore-Kittles Field.

The Rattlers (1-5) committed a pair of errors, but could not get a timely hit as Florida A&M stranded 15 on base.

How It Happened
Florida A&M began the scoring in the bottom of the first inning as Octavien Moyer belted a 1-1 pitch deep over the wall in left, giving the Rattlers the 1-0 lead.

Eastern Illinois (3-3) answered with four runs on four hits in the top of the third to grab a 4-1 advantage.

The Panthers extended the lead to 5-1 with a run in the fourth, but the Rattlers answered with a run in the bottom of the frame.

Tristen Cooper opened the inning with a double to left and moved to third on a balk. Brad Hession singled to right, plating Cooper from third and closing the gap to 5-2.

The Rattlers added another run in the sixth.

With one down, Ryan Coscarella walked and after a pitching change, moved to second on a ground out by Seyjuan Lawrence. Moyer reached on an error, allowing Coscarella to score as FAMU cut the deficit to 5-3.

Florida A&M had two runs on base in the seventh, eighth and ninth, but could not get a timely hit as the Rattlers dropped their fifth straight.
