TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - At Florida A&M, a new era in athletics has begun. Tuesday was Kortne Gosha's first day as the new Vice President and Director of FAMU Athletics.

Gosha comes from the University of Miami, where he was Associate Athletic Director and Chief Operating Officer. Gosha said he likes the opportunity ahead of him, and his goal is to make sure FA-U says in compliance and Championships are won moving forward.

"I've told everybody that I've encountered that academics and compliance are really going to be the offense and defense of our administration," he said. "If you get those two things right, then everything else systematically comes together. We really have to create a culture of compliance to ensure missteps aren't taken and that we're operating on a daily basis in compliance. Academics - that's our number one priority, graduating our young men and women."

Gosha added upgrading facilities is high on the priority list, and he said he has several programs in position to have sustained success at Florida A&M.
