TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Florida A&M men's basketball team is two games into the season. There is a lot of excitement around this program to be playing and for what lies ahead.

The Rattlers return four of their top five scorers, which is the reason one to be excited.

Reason two? This team is eligible to compete in the postseason.

They've spent the past two years on the outside looking in. Head coach Robert McCullum said he's been impressed with his team.

2020 isn't easy for a college student, especially when you're getting COVID tested nearly every day, but he said they understand what's at stake, and right now, they're thankful to be playing.

"If you look at guys, their first year away from home, first year at college, they had various expectations, some of them socially," McCullum said. "What about our returning guys? The seniors? This is their last year here. My hats off. I really commend them for the maturity that they've shown, to say hey, if this is what we have to do to play, we're going to do it."

FAMU doesn't play in Tallahassee until January 16. Next up? South Florida in Tampa on Friday.
