TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - January 24th is go time for college baseball as it marks the first day of practice. The guys get four hours a week now at Florida A&M, and like several other sports at the University, can't participate in postseason play this year.

There's still a lot of excitement for this team as they're coming off a ME-AC title and a spot in the NCAA tournament, and while they lost several talented players, they have a talented class coming in. Now it's just getting the young guys to that Championship mentality.

"Unfortunately we can't go to the postseason, so everything this year is about pride, how you play the game and why you play it the way you play it," said head coach Jamey Shouppe. "Pride can be a good thing and pride can be a bad thing if there's too much of it. We'll look at it from the good side and continue to press on these guys the importance of taking pride in everything you do, not only on the baseball field, but how you play and conduct yourself in the classroom and the community. That takes you a long way in life."

The Rattlers have a tough slate this year. Their season and home opener? February 17th agaisnt South Florida.
