DELAND, Fla. (FAMU ATHLETICS) — Florida A&M baseball kicked off the 2021 season Saturday afternoon, losing both games of a doubleheader to Stetson, 6-3 and 1-0.

Game 1

Stetson got the scoring started early, building an early 3-0 victory on the strength of a two-run home run in the first inning, and a one run homer in the second inning.

Junior infielder Jared Weber drove in the first run for the Rattlers, ripping a pitch into left field to score Seyjuan Lawrence in the top of the third.

With the Hatters up 6-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Weber answered again cranking a two-run homerun over the left field wall to cut Stetson's lead to three.

Kyle Coleman (0-1) pitched 4.1 innings giving up six runs on seven hits, while striking out four batters and walking three.

Game 2

FAMU and Stetson locked themselves into a defensive stalemate in game two.

Josh Hancock (0-1) got the start in the second contest, throwing a complete game giving up one run on five hits while fanning five Hatters.

Offensively, the Rattlers were able scatter three hits in the fifth and sixth innings but couldn't get any runs on the board.
