TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Florida A&M University is feeling the heat as COVID-19 brings changes to the athletics department.

The Florida A&M Board of Trustees Special Committee on Athletics held a meeting on Thursday where Vice President/Director of Athletics Kortne Gosha made some announcements about the financial impact of COVID-19.

As part of those impacts, Gosha announced that scholarships would be reduced by 10 percent for each sport, OPS Assistant Coaches contracts will not be renewed, and the entire department will face a temporary 7 percent salary decrease.

The news comes after the MEAC suspended the fall sports season due to COVID-19 concerns, which is expected to leave FAMU with losses stretching into the millions.
