TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - What better way to kick off fall camp than under the lights? That's what Florida A&M did today. Day one was inside Bragg, a good way to start for a team with a lot to prove. Last season ended with three straight losses, a tough ending that dashed dreams of a MEAC title for FAMU. The off season proved disappointing as well, as the Rattlers found out they'd miss postseason play this year after a self imposed ban due to NCAA violations.
Head coach Willie Simmons insists there's still so much to play for. He said he's not worried about their focus, and for the first couple of weeks they're focused on the fundamentals.
"We want to see our guys improve focusing on the little things. That's really the calling cry for this program," he said. "Focus on the little things and the big things will take care of themselves. Let's focus on alignment, assignment, fundamental football, doing the little things right, going to all of meals of team, rating good healthy meals, showing up to meetings prepared ready to go, really just developing Championship habits."
The Rattlers open the regular season August the 29th at UCF.
