TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Despite a career-high 5.2 innings and eight strikeouts from Shane Drohan, Florida State fell to Boston College 8-0 Sunday afternoon at Dick Howser Stadium. Eagles starter Mason Pelio (4-1) allowed just two hits over seven innings and BC scored three runs on four hits in the seventh inning to secure the series victory.

Drohan gave up six hits but worked out of trouble throughout his outing, stranding eight runners on base.
The Florida State bats were quiet for the second consecutive game, tallying just four hits against Pelio and Matt Gill out of the BC bullpen. FSU won a walk-off single Saturday but also had just four hits in the win.
Boston College threatened early and often but could not capitalize against Drohan over the first five innings. The Eagles got six hits, walked twice and was hit by a pitch against the left-hander but left six runners on base.
After a pair of hits in the sixth inning, Drohan was pulled after a career-high 5.2 innings pitched and eight strikeouts. Conor Grady (4-2) came on with two outs, runners on the corners and forced a pop up to Robby Martin in right field to keep the game scoreless.
Pelio gave up a double in the second inning and a single in the sixth, but FSU could not capitalize against the freshman. Pelio finished with two hits allowed, one walk, three hit batters and eight strikeouts over seven innings for his fourth win of the year.
Grady gave up four hits in the seventh inning, including Sal Frelick’s fourth home run of the season and a Gian Martellini RBI single, and Boston College took a 3-0 lead to the bottom of the frame.
Elijah Cabell and Nander De Sedas reached in the seventh but Pelio struck out the side to keep the Seminoles at bay. FSU also stranded two runners in the eighth against Matt Gill.
Clayton Kwiatkowski allowed four runs in the eighth inning on four hits and an FSU error.
The Eagles won the regular-season series against FSU for just the second time since joining the ACC and the first time since 2009.
OF NOTE
- Nander De Sedas and J.C. Flowers hit their seventh doubles of the season, tied with Mike Salvatore for second on the team (Robby Martin has 12).
- De Sedas, Elijah Cabell and Carter Smith were all hit by a pitch Sunday. Cabell leads FSU with 10 on the season; De Sedas is second with eight.
- Mat Nelson picked off Boston College’s first baserunner of the game in the first inning. He also laid down his fifth sacrifice bunt of the year and has five of FSU’s six sac bunts on the season.
- Shane Drohan set career highs with 5.2 innings pitched and eight strikeouts. The sophomore has set career innings-pitched highs his past three outings.
- Friday was the first time since March 14, 2017 that FSU and its opponent were both scoreless through six innings.

Florida State stays home to face Jacksonville Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. The first meeting between the teams, scheduled for February 19 in Jacksonville, was postponed a day due to rain and eventually canceled. The teams will meet again in early May.
