MARIANNA, Fla. (March 18, 2016) – Chipola College scored four runs in the first inning and put the game away with five in the sixth en route to a 13-4 win over Tallahassee Community College in game one of the teams’ Panhandle Conference series.
Leading 11-4, Chipola tacked on two runs in the bottom of the seventh to end the game via the run rule.
Chipola (24-9) is now 3-1 in PC play, one game ahead of Tallahassee (28-8, 2-2) and Gulf Coast State College (2-2).
Tallahassee scored a run in its first at-bat, but the Indians answered with four runs in their first trip to the plate. The Eagles got two of the runs back in the second to pull within 4-3.
Chipola scored single runs in the second and fourth, carrying a 6-3 lead to the bottom of the sixth.
Tallahassee will go for the series equalizer on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Eagle Field.
