Chiles Boys Win Swim & Dive Regionals, Girls Finish Third

TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - When it comes to high school swimming, Chiles has been one of the teams to beat for a while. The boys are the defending Class 3A State Champions. The ladies finished third last season, but won five straight State titles from 2010-2014.

The journey to State continued Wednesday for the Timberwolves, as well as Lincoln and Leon, as the Class 3A Region 1 Championships hit the pool in Tallahassee.

There were several swimmers and divers who automatically qualified for the State meet on November 11th.

On the girls side, Chiles’ Stephanie Holmes - 2nd 500 Free; Lincoln’s Saige Kemeny - 2nd 100 Breast; Leon’s Kyndall Cardoso - 2nd 100 Fly; Chiles’ Rainey Vause - 1st in 1 meter diving.

For the boys, Chiles’ John Yambor Maul and Ryland Sun won two events apiece. John in the 50 Free and 100 Free, Ryland in the 100 Fly and 100 Back. Leon’s Taj Cole won the 1 meter diving. Other automatic qualifiers: Chiles’ Tristan Sanders - 1st 200 Free; Chiles’ Cole Forbes - 2nd 500 Free; and Chiles’ Hayden Kwan - 2nd 100 Back.
