VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - A decade ago, Carley Kuhns suited up for the Valdosta State women's basketball team, scoring over 1100 points in her career and draining 262 three pointers, which is still a school record.
On Monday, she returned to her alma mater to be officially introduced as head coach. Kuhns, a 2015 Blazer Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, comes to VSU after six seasons as an assistant coach at Belmont.
She said she's excited for the opportunity to coach the Blazers, and said she's living a dream being able to come back home.
"I had such a fantastic experience as a student athlete and then as a graduate assistant here," she said on Monday. "It's a place that's so special. It's where my husband and I met. We both played basketball here, we both graduated from here, and it feels like home. To be able to come back and give that back to a group of ladies is 100% why I want to be here."
Kuhns added that coaching at the Division I level, where Belmont won an Ohio Valley Conference Championship has only prepared her for her new role.
