TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The 7th Annual Capital City Classic Flag Football Tournament kicked off Friday night with 37 teams from across the state of Florida, and the big draw? Markham District High School, a team who made the trip from Canada, and a team who played Godby tonight for their first international girls high school flag football game.

The Cougars, who fell in the Final Four in last year's State Tournament, made a statement, winning 39-0 in the history making affair.

"To be a part of something this historic, something that represents the growth of flag football so much, our girls just had an amazing time," said head coach Chelsea Parmer. "We're so excited we could be a part of this."

"Everybody down here was almost as excited as we were for us coming down so that was a really neat experience," said Markham head coach Steve Hartslief. "Players have been coming up and taking pictures with our kids so, just the overall experience with the international experience has been fantastic."

Lincoln beat Apopka on day one 38-0, while Rickards and FAMU DRS also picked up wins.
