THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - For the Brookwood Warrior girls basketball team, Caroline Deese is a strong senior presence the girls need. They start two freshman on this year's Varsity team, and Caroline's been leading the way all while fighting through some pain of her own.

"I wasn't sure if I was going to get to play at the beginning of the season at all because it does need surgery," said Caroline of her lingering hip injury. "The doctor's decided that it wouldn't do any further damage so I've had to push through a lot of pain, but it's been worth it."

"She would rather be on the court than not," said head coach Kim Taylor. "She loves this game and it's her senior year, and I think that in her mind, she has come to terms with her injury, and it's just fighting the pain."

Those young Warriors, have a lot to look up to. Caroline's averaging 15 points and ten rebounds a game, and in the classroom, she's rocking a 4.24 GPA.

"I have a study hall every other day," she said. "It's nice to be able to get a lot of the homework out of the way during that."

"It's hard to be good in the classroom and then be good on the court," said coach Taylor. "It's tough to distribute your time evenly."

But even-keeled is Caroline for the Warriors. As a three year varsity starter, she's left her mark in Brookwood basketball.

"Her presence is known," smiled coach. "When she's on the floor, our team feels like they're ready to play when she's there. She makes our team complete when she's on the court."

Making things complete, and pushing through, every step of the way.
