THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - For fans of Brookwood athletics, it's an exciting time of the year.

For the first time since 2011, both the Warrior girls and boys basketball teams made the Elite Eight. The ladies fell on Friday to Pinewood Christian, but the guys play Saturday, and no matter the outcome, Warrior Nation is excited to be a part of some serious success.

"It might have been the biggest crowd we had all year," said girls coach Todd Webb of the crowd on hand to witness the Warrior boys Semifinal win earlier this week. "The students were into it. The parents and the families were too."

"It was full. Not a seat to be had," added boys coach Drew Giudice. "It was packed here and the kids definitely fed off that energy."

Life is a little bit easier when you know someone's got your back.

"It feels good to know that Brookwood and Central and Thomasville are all coming together to help us with this run," said Guidice.

Perhaps their biggest fans? Each other.

"The boys biggest fans are our girls basketball players and our girls biggest fans are our boys basketball players," said Webb. "It's kind of like one big family right now."

"Puts a little good pressure on you. Little internal pressure each way," laughed Guidice. "They practice hard. I use that as ammo with my guys and I'm sure he does some of the same things."

No matter how this season shapes up, this family looks to build their bond stronger for the future, feeding off each other for success long term.

"You don't want to be the first one to lose and I'm sure Coach Guidice would say the same thing!" laughed Webb.

"They're laying the foundation for something bigger and later," said Guidice. "You see third and fourth graders screaming and highfiving in the stands and to see third and fourth graders get into it and know that Brookwood basketball is building. That's why I came here. That's what I wanted to do."

Laying foundation for more crowds like that Quarterfinal crowd this week.
