Blazers' Scott earns GSC Offensive Player of the Week honor

VALDOSTA, Ga. - Valdosta State sophomore running back Austin Scott has been named the Gulf South Conference Offensive Player of the Week after leading VSU to a 52-14 win over Florida Tech this past weekend.

Scott earned the honor after gaining 123 yards on just six carries in the game, an average of 20.5 yards per carry. He scored two touchdowns in the game, the second coming on a career-best 72-yard run in the third quarter of the game. Scott also scored the Blazers' first offensive touchdown of the game when he capped off a 71-yard drive with a 16-yard run early in the third quarter.

On the season, Scott leads Valdosta State with 384 yards and five touchdowns on just 37 carries. He is averaging 10.4 yards per carry and 96.0 yards per game.

The Blazers return to action this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Eastern when they travel to Livingston, Ala. to take on West Alabama in the GSC TV Game of the Week.
