VALDOSTA, Ga - The Valdosta State football team is getting ready to make its 13th appearance in the NCAA Playoffs. Saturday the Blazers travel to Florence, Ala. to face off against Gulf South Conference foe North Alabama. The Blazers will look to avenge a 31-29 loss to UNA during the regular season
The game features two of the best defenses in the Gulf South Conference as the Lions lead the league as they allow only 16.7 points a game while VSU is second at 17.2 points allowed per outing. North Alabama is also first in total yards allowed at 318.3 per game as well as in passing yards per game allowed at 168.2. While Valdosta State is fifth in the league in total defense at 351.9 yards allowed, it gives up just 134.1 rushing yards a game, which ranks second-best in the league.
