CARROLLTON, Ga. (WTXL) -- Cedric O'neal finally captured Valdosta State's all time career rushing touchdown record, but it wasn't enough for VSU to beat West Georgia on the road . West Georgia beats Valdosta State 49-28. It is West Georgia's first win over VSU at home in 17 years. O'Neal now has 37 career touchdowns. He finished the day with 107 yards and two touchdowns.

After a back and forth first half, Valdosta State trailed 25-21 at halftime. However, West Georgia outscored the Blazers 21-0 in the third quarter.

Two of those West Georgia touchdowns were setup from VSU interceptions.

Roland Rivers came in relief of EJ Hilliard at quarterback in the 4th quarter. Rivers hit Chris Anderson for a 10 yard touchdown, but by then the game was out of hand. VSU will try to avoid its third straight loss next week against Mississippi College Choctaws at home.
