FLORENCE, Ala. (WTXL) - North Alabama kicker Taylor Pontius blasted a school-record 54-yard field goal as time expired, and No. 5 UNA escaped a threat from No. 21 Valdosta State, beating the Blazers 31-29.
The loss drops VSU to 2-2 on the season, while the team has started Gulf South Conference play with back-to-back losses.
Valdosta State is on a bye week, and will return to action Saturday, October 11 at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium, hosting the Wolves of West Georgia. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
