Bethune-Cookman blanks Rattlers, 4-0

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 7) - Bethune-Cookman completed their sweep of the Florida A&M Baseball team as the Wildcats blanked the Rattlers 4-0, here Sunday afternoon at Moore-Kittles field in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference contest.
 
B-CU (18-17, 10-5 MEAC) recorded a game high 11 hits as Eros Modena led the Wildcats from the plate with three hits.
 
FAMU (2-32, 2-13) tallied five hits as five Rattler batters garnered one hit each.
 
Ali Simpson (3-4) got the win for B-CU as he pitched seven innings, allowing three hits and striking out five in the 23 batters he faced, while Jordan Dailey (6) got the save as  he pitched two inning, allowing two hits and striking out three in the nine batters he faced.
 
William Carrasco (0-5) received the loss for the Rattlers as he pitched eight inning, allowing nine hits, two earned runs and striking out five in the 37 batters he faced.  In relief, both Kendall Weeks and Reginald Grant toed the mound for the Rattlers.  Weeks gave up two hits and one earned run in the two batters he faced, while Grant pitched one inning of scoreless baseball in the two batters he faced.
 

Anthony Stokes gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead in the top of the second as he scored on a FAMU fielding error.

B-CU added to their lead in the top of the fifth inning as Josh Johnson scored on a wild pitch, making the score 2-0 in favor of the Wildcats.
 
The Wildcats scored their final two runs of the game in top of the ninth as Johnson scored on a Brandon Turner double down the left field line, followed by a Modena single through the left side scoring Turners for the 4-0 finale.
 
FAMU will return to action on Wednesday, April 10 as they will travel to Jacksonville, Fla., to take on the University of North Florida in a 6 p.m. contest at Harmon Stadium.
