MONTICELLO, Fl. (WTXL) - South Georgia and North Florida high school football teams take the field Friday night for the first round of the playoffs, and for Aucilla Christian, this has been a long time coming.
The Warriors host FAMU DRS in their first play-off appearance since 2005, and it's their first time hosting since 1993.
They're confident heading into the match-up, and they're ready to show everyone this is where they belong.
"That's what we're talking to them about. You're a good Aucilla team, but you have a chance to make history," said head coach Colby Roberts. "That's the first thing we told them in our team meeting on Monday when we were watching film, the last time we hosted a playoff game at Aucilla, you weren't even alive then. Like I said, history's in the making right there. Hopefully they can realize what kind of moment they have in front of them right now and take advantage of it."
Aucilla's match-up with the Baby Rattlers is set for a 7:30 kickoff.
