MONTICELLO, Fl. (WTXL) - Aucilla Christian Academy has just thirty kids in their senior class. It's a private school in Monticello, Florida, and has just over 300 kids in kindergarten through 12th grade.
On Thursday, four seniors signed college scholarships, a pretty impressive feat for such a tiny school.
Elizabeth Hightower, a softball pitcher, signed with the University of Florida, and she said she's excited to don orange and blue next season.
"I've been thinking and dreaming of those for years and just to sign to a great school like the University of Florida, it's a dream come true," she said. "There's been a lot of holidays I've pitched through or just birthdays or anniversaries for my parents. It's definitely surreal. I probably won't believe it until I actually get into the circle for the first time."
Teammate and fellow pitcher Abigail Morgan agreed, saying the time and dedication to her craft was worth it when she made things official with Florida Atlantic.
"It has been a long journey, but I'm glad it's finally here and I'm glad to go and play in college," she said. "I told my parents on my visit, this is the place. This is where I am going to go. I just love the coaches and the atmosphere and the people. In less that a year, I'll be down there playing softball and it's just crazy."
Carly Joiner, a short stop for the Warriors, was recruited to play middle infield next year at Valdosta State.
"It's such a dream come true and it's just a relief that I finally get to accomplish this lifelong goal that I've had," she said. "We do bible study every week there and that's something that really stuck out to me and I just can't wait to honor God and play softball there for my coach."
Camryn Grant, who also plays softball at Aucilla, has chosen to pursue basketball at the next level. She signed with Lee University, and can't wait to suit up for the Flames next season.
"It's a Christian school and it ended up being a really good fit for me," she said. "I just loved the coaches and people there. It's so exciting and something that I didn't know that it would be possible, so it's just such a blessing."
All four girls have attended Aucilla Christian since kindergarten.
