TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Florida State Women’s Basketball freshman guard Amaya Brown will miss the rest of the 2018-19 season with a season-ending knee injury suffered in Sunday’s win at Virginia Tech.

Brown, who hails from Albuquerque, N.M., became a key part of the Seminoles’ rotation and increased her floor time at the start of ACC play because of her outstanding perimeter defense. The active guard started two of the last three games and averaged nearly 18 minutes in conference games.

Brown is part of FSU’s sixth-ranked 2018 recruiting class that has helped the Seminoles to a 17-3 overall record and a 5-2 mark in ACC play. She came to FSU as the top-ranked player out of New Mexico and a consensus Top-100 recruit, and was a two-time New Mexico Gatorade Player of the Year.

Florida State Women’s Basketball begins a key three-game stretch at the Donald L. Tucker Center, beginning with a 7 p.m. tip-off against rival Miami on Thursday.
