VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - We started with 32 teams and each week we've whittled them down. Now, we're down to the final two in each classification in the GHSA Playoffs. Lowndes High School is representing AAAAAAA and is hungry for another title.

It's been awhile since the Vikings last State Championship - twelve years to be exact. For head coach Randy McPherson, getting back to the big game has been a long time coming. Year after year, the Vikings have been almost there, and this year, they're back over the hump and will enter Saturday's match-up undefeated.

This Viking squad is special one experiencing a special season, but they insist that this week feels like another other week.

"Everybody is focused, excited and ready to go up there and represent Lowndes at the top," said McPherson.

"I feel great about it. The team is really happy," added senior running back and linebacker Gary Osby. "We're just proud that we made it this far pretty much."

Saturday's AAAAAAA State Championship game kicks off at 8:00 in Atlanta. The Vikings take on Marietta.
