TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - No matter the sport, there's always a rivalry between Lincoln and Chiles. In football, the Trojans have dominated the rivalry, but that doesn't make it any less important of a game -- especially this year.
This one not just for bragging rights, as it is a big game in those District standings. 7A-1 is a tough District, and in order to control their postseason fate, both teams need a win. Chiles has beaten Lincoln just one time in 18 games played, back in 2015.
Lincoln is coming off a bye week heading into this game, something head coach Quinn Gray calls a good thing as his guys were battling some injuries. Chiles and head coach Kevin Pettis, coming off a loss to Crestview. Both teams look to get back on the right track this Friday night, and both coaches know this will be a game played with a lot of passion on both sides.
"We talk about the most important game on the schedule is the next game on the schedule," said Pettis. "Right now, our feet are at Lincoln and we're going to be where our feet are and we're just going to do what we need to do to play the game."
"We have to play our brand of football," added Gray. "We have to control their guys that make the plays for them and then we have to put points on the board and stop them from scoring."
Friday's match-up is set for a 7:00 kick at Gene Cox Stadium.
