CLINCH COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) — Over the past four years, the Clinch County Panthers have won three Single A State titles including the last two.
They've been downright dominant. But there's a lot of changes from last year to this year.
Longtime head coach Jim Dickerson retired after last year.
The Panthers also lost a strong senior class but the new guy in charge? A familiar face as Don Tison, the Panthers longtime offensive coordinator, is now leading this program.
Even with the loss of that strong senior group, they have some good guys coming back. Now it's about establishing some leaders and the thing about Clinch County, they always seem to reload.
"It's not really about a class or a certain player, it's never been about things that are year to year. It's more about a program that's been built here long before me," said Dickerson. "Just continuing that, kids growing up, wanting to play here, wanting to be apart of it. They wait their turn. Now it's time for the next bunch to step up and try to carry it on."
